It’s no secret that martial arts has indeed come a long way over the years. A number of years ago, Bruce Lee helped the arts become even more famous, when he developed his style of Jeet Kune Do. He participated in several movies, showing the world his speed and finesse. Since then, movies have been a favorite way to showcase martial arts skills.
Back in the early 1990s, something referred to as the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) came along to take things a step further. Even supposing there have been other competitions similar to the UFC, none of them had the flair and the dedication as UFC did. When it first began, the UFC paired different styles and different weight classes.

When we are talking about Judo techniques, they are taken from the actions of Jujitsu. Jujitsu goes back thousands of years and was practiced by the Sumo wrestler. No one really knows how far back it goes, but it has its origin in both China and Japan. This art form became popular because there was a need for soldiers who could fight in combat without weapons. Many schools cropped up later on because certain masters held on to different secrets that made Jujitsu so effective.

Judo is a grappling sport with its beginning in Japan. In competition, Judokas (i.e., judo practitioners) win matches by scoring points known as ippon. Ippon are scored for throws, which occur when a Judoka knocks his opponent really hard onto his back, for dominance, which happens when a Judoka pins his opponent on his back plus keeps him there, plus for submissions like chokes or lock holds that force the opponent to submit.
Traditional competition Judo requires Judoka to wear a Judo gi (i.e., the Japanese word for uniform). The gi is both a image of Judo’s origin, as well as a practical garment for a sport which involves a brilliant deal of tugging, twisting and maneuvering.
