Judo is a grappling sport with its beginning in Japan. In competition, Judokas (i.e., judo practitioners) win matches by scoring points known as ippon. Ippon are scored for throws, which occur when a Judoka knocks his opponent really hard onto his back, for dominance, which happens when a Judoka pins his opponent on his back plus keeps him there, plus for submissions like chokes or lock holds that force the opponent to submit.

Traditional competition Judo requires Judoka to wear a Judo gi (i.e., the Japanese word for uniform). The gi is both a image of Judo’s origin, as well as a practical garment for a sport which involves a brilliant deal of tugging, twisting and maneuvering.

Judo uniforms are created of a heavy canvas-like material. This is important as many judo moves involve grabbing and pulling on the judo jacket of the opponent. Judo uniforms are additional than simply an outfit to wear. They are symbols of a learning process, also a spiritual journey which a student is currently traveling. Judo uniforms are generally created out of a hundred% cotton, bleached white. Cotton is the most effective alternative for breathability.
