First, you can’t just talk about the Martial Arts, you have to do them. To talk about is like thinking about, to know is to actually do. It is the difference between the definition of the word ‘wet’ and actually going surfing.
Thus, if you talk to people about the martial arts, if you watch movies about the martial arts, if you read books about the martial arts, it doesn’t work. The only thing that works is to actually find a teacher and learn them. To put on a uniform and step onto the dojo floor and find out how they really work.

The deadliest tool I know, in the martial arts, is also the one least used. I am talking about the actual and effective use of space. Space, if properly understood and utilized, can win any fight.
Space is emptiness, is nothing, is the absence of object. Space is also the greatest conductor of visual perception, just ask any light beam. Space is zen and not understood by most martial artists.
The distance between your opponent and you is what space is. If you can control space, the space between you and your opponent, you can control any fight. When it comes to fighting, this should always be the first strategy.

DVDs are a great gift when it comes to learning the martial arts. There are, however, many things you should consider when shopping for a DVD. These things can make the difference between an effective martial art, and something laying on the sidewalk that smells sort of funny.
First you have to decide which martial art you wold like to study. This is easy if you have a little experience, pursuing something you already have experience in is always going to be easier. You need to consider several things, however, if you don’t have experience.

It is possible to learn the martial arts by DVD. There are, however, several things you should be aware of when shopping for a DVD. These items can make the difference between a learned art, and something laying on the sidewalk that you shouldn’t touch.
First, you should select the martial art you wish to study. If you have a little experience, this is easy, especially if you decide to pursue something you already have a knowledge of. If you don’t have experience, then you need to consider several things.
