The Truth About your Body and Kung Fu
Some guy is as big as an elephant, another guy is as skinny as a twig, another guy is lifting weights and trying to look like Arnold. Some guy is working on power, another guy is working on speed, and another guy is working on technique. And the question here is…what type of body is the most efficient type of body to have in the martial arts
Do you want a body that is hard with muscle, and so strong that if it gets hit it doesn’t matter? Do you want a body that is lithe and lean and able to flex out of any situation? What is the best kind of body you can have in the martial arts?
The solution lies in contrasting and comparing the attributes of the various types of bodies. A body that is heavy with hard muscle has fast strength, but it usually doesn’t last as long. When it comes tobig muscles there is a price to be paid in endurance.
A body that is too lean might have oodles of speed and flexibility, but sometimes you need weight and mass to make a punch work. A punch depends upon a certain amount of weight, you see, and the punch will suffer if the body doesn’t have the weight. The trade off here is that if your body is lean and lithe you might get faster, which will increase weight, but that does not always work when it comes to a real fight.
So this is what you need to do to solve the riddle. First, I want you to give up all soda drinks and fast food. That kind of food is pure killer, has virtually no nutritional value, and that is easily proven if you just look at the people falling out of the doors of your local hamburgery station.
Second, give up all pasta, bread, and that sort of thing. Your body doesn’t digest synthetic food easily, and the food tends to congest and make the body fat. Really, examine all the foods you eat, and avoid anything that is manufactured.
Okay, you’re saving truckloads of money by eating sensible amounts of protein every day and truckloads of veggies. The protein could be portions of turkey, fish, chicken, hamburger, and so on. Red meat should be eaten sparingly..
What is going to happen is that the weight will drop off smoothly and easily. Your body is going to become muscled and lean and last all night long and you will have tons of extra energy, and this will start happening almost overnight, at the least, you will notice differences within a week or two. Do a good martial arts work out with this and you will shortly find that your body begins to assume the perfect shape, bulk, mass, speed, and everything else, for you are now eating what nature designed for it.

Have to confess, I feel a lot better since moving from \’created carbs\’ like bread and pasta to rice – although if you\’re about to take part in a training session and need the energy to get your through then …. calories are calories – regardless of where they come from!
I do disagree with yoru comments on punching and weight – yes weight helps (try getting hit with a car or a truck and see which hurts more) but accuracy and the ability to punch your weight are bigger factors – after all, we\’re not all 6ft monsters : )
