Of all the martial arts the you will discover that wing chun training offers  a steep learning curve , however you will be surprised how much you will learn in such a short amount of time.  The legend of the wing chun training system is that is was devised by a nun at the Shoalin temple at around the same time it was attacked and destroyed by the ruling Manchu’s.  They became wary of the temple as it was seen as a hotbed of revolutionaries and skilful warriors.Threatened by its influence they sent the army to destroy the temple.  However a hand fill of nomads and kung Fu masters escaped  and their respective kung fu styles flourished in secret. At this time secret societies sprung up around china which added to kung fu’s mystique .

The idea behind wing chun training is that it took all the efficiency movement of all the other  styles of kung Fu  and fused them all together to come up with thee style that was deadly, direct and easy to learn.  Traditionally it took many years to master a kung fu style, a teacher would choose their disciple and through many of years of toil would slowly unravel its secrets.  Wing Chun was designed to be an attacking system and be used to defend against the manchu rulers.  In short there was no time to wait around 20 years to learn to master a system to be effective in combat. They did not have the patience to wait.

That us why the wing chun kung fu training system was designed to be learnt in a relatively short period of time. From its chi sao training, or close quarter fighting, to the wing chun dummy. Wing chun was specifically designed to be a fighting art.  Many other styles of Kung Fu are derived by animal movements, and use elongated ‘flowery’ moves. If you where to watch their forms they are extremely athletic and elegant. If you where to watch the wing chun training forms they are visually very basic, not outlandish or as visually impressive as other forms.Wing chun forms where meant for training purposes rather than demonstrative purposes.

That is why wing chun is considered a fighting form and through its discipline a martial art that can be learnt in a relative short period of time.
